A note from the organizer of The Veterinary Culture Manifesto
The people of veterinary medicine deserve better.
I’ve felt the fascinations and fears of our profession throughout my own decade of work alongside you. I have lost a colleague and friend to suicide, and I've paid close attention to the experiences of my best friends, family members, and closest colleagues. This industry is beautiful in many ways, but we do have big ugly problems to solve.
First and foremost, we must solve our culture problem.
The good news is our profession is full of problem solvers, and there are many people already hard at work to make things better. I am optimistic that our industry will come together, agree on the critical importance of our people, and collaborate to enact holistic positive change from many angles. That work has already begun.
I am here to help build a better, brighter future in vet med. I certainly can’t do it alone, but I’ve been amazed by the outpouring of support and the power of community in our profession. Together, we will do a whole lot of good for a whole lot of people.
This manifesto is the result of months of industry-wide collaboration. We hope its impact brings positive change for many years to come.
